An illness or injury that keeps you out of work could have a devastating impact on your income. To protect you and your family, Palmetto Health offers short-term and long-term disability coverage for eligible team members at no cost to you.
Palmetto Health provides you with short-term disability coverage to give you short-term income protection in case you become disabled due to illness or a nonoccupational injury. If your disability claim is approved, you may be eligible to receive 50 percent of your covered salary (up to $2,500 per week) after a 15-day elimination period.
Palmetto Health provides long-term disability coverage to give you income protection In the event you become disabled due to a long-term illness or a nonoccupational injury. After a 180-day elimination period, if your disability claim is approved, you may be eligible to receive 60 percent of your covered salary, up to $25,000 per month.
Short-term Disability Buy Up
Palmetto Health provides Short-term Disability at no cost to all benefits- eligible team members when you are unable to work due to a serious illness or injury. It covers 50 percent of your base pay after a 15-day elimination period. With the Short-term Disability buy-up benefits option, you can purchase an additional 10 percent of coverage should you go out on a medical leave of absence.

Long-term Disability Buy Up
Palmetto Health provides Long-term Disability at no cost. Long-term Disability covers 60 percent of your base pay after you have been on a medical leave of absence for six months. With the Long-term Disability buy-up benefits option, you can purchase an additional 6.67 percent of coverage.
