  • Save for Retirement.

Learn more with the Palmetto Health Retirement Toolkit.

As you review your benefits during Open Enrollment, keep in mind that you can take steps to increase your retirement savings.

Increase your Palmetto Health Tax-Sheltered Annuity Savings Plan Contributions. If you are an eligible team member, you can earn a dollar-for-dollar match of your contributions from Palmetto Health, up to at least 3.5 percent of your biweekly pay. That’s like getting “free” money! You can save up to $18,000 per year (including the Palmetto Health contribution). If you’re over 50, you can save an additional $6,000. Learn more.

Consider Contributing to a Health Savings Account. One of the benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA) is that you can roll over the balance year after year. In effect, you can use your HSA as supplemental retirement income once you reach age 65. Keep in mind, if you are enrolled in Medicare, you are not eligible to contribute to, nor receive contributions, in an HSA account. Learn more.

  • Consider Enrolling in Voluntary Medical Insurance.

Palmetto Health offers various voluntary medical insurance policies through Aflac that are designed to protect your finances in case of serious illness. You pay the premium for these policies, which is why they are called voluntary, although Palmetto Health makes it easy by enabling payroll deductions for your costs.

  • Know Your Health Information.

By participating in myHealth Rewards, you can complete a health questionnaire that will give you information about your current health. Go to myPal and click on myHealth Rewards for more information.
